DUNSEITH, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) — A 49-year-old Dunseith man died early Saturday after a pickup left the road and struck a tree in Rolette County.

The crash happened at about 1:59 a.m. on May 30, 2026. It happened near 9881 28th Avenue Northeast in Dunseith.

According to the North Dakota State Patrol, the man was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 south on 28th Avenue Northeast.

The vehicle was south of the intersection with 99th Street Northeast. Authorities said the pickup was traveling at an unknown speed.

Pickup Struck A Tree

Investigators said the Chevrolet failed to make it through a curve. The driver then lost control of the pickup.

The vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. His name was not released in the initial report.

Crash Remains Under Investigation

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash. Weather conditions were also listed as dry.

The crash happened during nighttime hours. No other vehicles were involved.

The crash was listed as a single-vehicle crash. It was also described as a vehicle-versus-fixed-object crash.

Several agencies responded to the scene. They included the North Dakota State Patrol and the Rolette County Sheriff’s Office.

The Dunseith Police Department also assisted. Dunseith Fire Department and Belcourt Fire Department also responded.

Dunseith Ambulance Service and Belcourt Ambulance Service were also called to the crash scene.
