Narrative:

On July 3rd, 2024, at approximately 1:30 pm, the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) responded to a vehicle fire on westbound I-94 between the Red River Bridge and the University Drive exit. The vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup operated by Merreo Stewart, was traveling westbound when Stewart noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. He pulled over to the outside shoulder and discovered the vehicle was on fire. Both Stewart and his passenger, Jane Randash, exited the vehicle unharmed.

The Fargo Fire Department quickly responded and extinguished the blaze. However, the incident caused significant traffic backups into Minnesota, resulting in a minor property damage crash on westbound I-94 in Minnesota, which was investigated by the MN State Patrol. The Dodge Ram 3500 was declared a total loss, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
