GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Domestic Violence Nightmare: 32-Year-Old Man to Face Sentencing for Heinous Crimes Against Ex-Girlfriend

A disturbing case of domestic violence has led to a North Dakota man facing sentencing on four charges. Alexander Mitchell Stewart, 32, pleaded guilty to three Class C felonies – domestic violence causing serious bodily injury, terrorizing, and felonious restraint.

The maximum sentence for each of these crimes is five years in prison. Additionally, Stewart also pleaded guilty to the Class A misdemeanor driving under suspension.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, Stewart was arrested after Grand Forks County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance on September 27, 2023. One deputy witnessed Stewart attacking his ex-girlfriend just outside their residence.

The victim told law enforcement that Stewart had become angry with her and drove around looking for her, yelling for her to get in the car. When she didn’t comply, he swerved toward her. The woman eventually jumped out of a second-story window and ran away from the residence.

Stewart was allegedly striking his ex-girlfriend with a broken piece of porch railing when law enforcement arrived. He initially pleaded guilty to all charges except for attempted murder, which he planned to stand trial for. However, the trial has been canceled, and sentencing is scheduled for December 16.

A pre-sentencing investigation has been ordered, and Stewart will face justice for his heinous crimes against his ex-girlfriend.
