Becker County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A domestic violence call spiraled into a multi-agency pursuit and officer-involved shooting Wednesday evening.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 36-year-old Todd Ole Burris of Bemidji. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says Burris is in stable condition at Essentia Health in Fargo and is expected to be charged with aggravated assault once released.
At around 5:30 p.m., Becker County deputies responded to a domestic assault on Highway 21 north of Detroit Lakes. The caller reported that Burris had entered a home, assaulted the victim, and stolen a firearm.
Deputies spotted his vehicle in Detroit Lakes. When they attempted to stop him, Burris fled, triggering a high-speed pursuit involving Detroit Lakes Police, Minnesota State Patrol, and Otter Tail County deputies.
The chase ended at the Frazee Rest Area, where an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers rendered aid at the scene, and Burris was first transported to Detroit Lakes, then transferred to Fargo.
No officers were injured, and the Minnesota BCA is now investigating. All officers involved were wearing body cameras.
