Diane Lynn Bjorgan (née Lutz) passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Diane was born October 1, 1950, to Henry and Jeanine Lutz in Thief River Falls. Shortly after, her family moved to the Twin Cities area, where she graduated from Burnsville High School in 1968. Growing up, she was a natural caretaker to her two younger sisters, Brenda and Cherrie and showed an early love for creativity– which she expressed through design and interior decorating. Her creative spirit would carry on throughout her life in many forms.
In 1969, Diane married Dennis Bradach, and together they welcomed two daughters, Tracy and Jamie. In the 1980s, she met and married Bob Hardy and lovingly gained a son when she adopted Bob’s son, Matt. In 1990, Diane relocated up north, where she married Maurice Bjorgan rounding out her beautiful, blended family with his four children, Maureen, Gayleen, Michelle, and Lynelle.
Diane was a devoted and hardworking mother, sometimes juggling several jobs at once to ensure her children were well cared for. She especially enjoyed her career at DigiKey, where she worked her way up to a purchasing manager. Her proudest accomplishment, however, was her title as Grandma. She embraced this role with absolute dedication, attending every game, play, recital, pageant, graduation, and birthday with a joyful presence and tireless volunteering. Even with 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she made sure every single one of them received birthday cards and lots of Christmas presents, some might say too many presents! Her handmade stockings and generous holiday spirit became cherished family traditions.
Family gatherings were another large part of Diane’s life, including many magical family trips to Disney World, and camping trips to Maple Lake in Mentor, especially for the huge 4th of July Celebrations. At each get-together, the kitchen was her haven of generosity, always filled with too much food and baked treats, including the treasured cookies that her granddaughters will continue to bake in her memory.
In addition to keeping up with such a large family, Diane still managed to fill her social calendar with other activities. She was on the school board, active with the local Legion, thoroughly enjoyed casino trips, crafting, crocheting, cross-stitching, card playing, solving puzzles, participating in the bell choir, learning Russian – she was up for anything, as long as she could socialize. She was a true social butterfly all the way up to the end, where she was THE Bingo Caller at several assisted livings, even when she couldn’t stay awake for the end of the game.
Diane was welcomed in heaven by her husband, Maurice Bjorgan; and her parents, Jeanine and Henry Lutz.
Diane will be forever missed by her children, Tracy (Eric) Magin, Jamie (Brendon) Burk, and Matt Hardy; stepchildren, Maureen (Steve) Hams, Gayleen (Kent) Kainz, Michelle Hopkins, and Lynelle (Todd) Doyle; her grandchildren she adored, Cody, Taytum, Chloe, Victoria, Dylan, Kaley, Brooke, Ethan, Jocey, Arizona, Hannah, Lilly, Kelsey, Leah, Ashly, Amber, Stephanie, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Brynley, Braelyn, Karter, Bentley, Frankin, Willow, Oliver, Jerome, Memphis, Elias, Archie, and Izaac; sisters, Brenda (Ken) Foster and Cherrie (Griff) Springer.
