Detroit Lakes Walmart Theft Case Tops $6,100

DETROIT LAKES(trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man faces a felony theft charge in Becker County.

Raul Mario Salinas is accused of taking part in two thefts at the Detroit Lakes Walmart.

The alleged thefts happened on October 28 and December 13, 2025.

Store staff estimated the combined loss at $6,108.59, according to the criminal complaint.

Three carts allegedly pushed through the exit

The complaint says three people entered the store on December 13.

The group included two men and one woman, according to investigators.

Each person allegedly selected a plastic tote while moving through the store.

The woman reportedly left the store and waited near a vehicle.

The two men then placed merchandise into totes and gathered three shopping carts.

They allegedly pushed the carts through a garden center fire exit without paying.

The group loaded the merchandise into a vehicle and left, the complaint says.

Walmart’s loss prevention estimated that theft at $5,077.33.

Earlier theft is described in the complaint

Investigators also linked the group to an October 28 theft at the same store.

The complaint says the three people filled a cart with merchandise.

They then allegedly pushed the cart through the garden center fire exit.

Walmart estimated the earlier loss at $1,031.26.

Fargo police and Walmart loss prevention staff helped identify the suspects.

Investigators identified Salinas as one of the two male suspects.

They also said the December vehicle resembled one owned by Salinas.

Felony charge and warrant request

Salinas is charged under Minnesota’s felony theft law.

The charge covers property valued above $5,000.

A conviction may carry up to 10 years in prison or a $20,000 fine.

Readers can review the law through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.

The case was filed in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.

The court file number is 03-CR-26-12.

More court information is available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch.

Prosecutors requested an arrest warrant rather than a summons.

They cited two earlier bench warrants tied to missed court hearings.

A criminal complaint is an accusation.

Salinas is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
