Becker County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A Sartell woman is facing criminal charges in a stolen vehicle case. The stop happened in Detroit Lakes on Christmas Eve morning.
Julie Ann Blood of Sartell is charged with felony receiving stolen property. She also faces misdemeanor charges for giving a false name and driving after cancellation.
Traffic stop in Detroit Lakes
According to court documents, Blood was pulled over on Highway 59 in Detroit Lakes. The stop happened on the morning of December 24.
Court documents say Blood told officers the car was not hers. She said a friend asked her to “hold” the vehicle.
She identified that friend as someone named “Kangaroo,” according to the filing. Investigators did not accept that explanation, court records say.

Vehicle reported stolen
Court documents say the car was reported stolen out of Minneapolis. Officers confirmed the stolen status during the stop, according to the complaint.
Court records also say Blood had outstanding warrants at the time. The warrants were noted during the traffic stop, the filing says.
Charges filed
Blood is charged with receiving stolen property under Minnesota’s theft law. That law is found in Minn. Stat. 609.52.
She is also charged with giving a false name to an officer. Minnesota’s law on false names is Minn. Stat. 609.506.
The complaint also lists driving after cancellation. That offense is described in Minn. Stat. 171.24.
