BECKER COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – A Detroit Lakes man, Omar Espinoza, 33, is facing felony second-degree assault charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a man during a disturbing road rage incident on Highway 10 near Audubon.
According to the complaint, the May 23 encounter began when Espinoza reportedly tailgated and then pulled alongside a man driving from Fargo to attend his son’s graduation. The victim told deputies that Espinoza pointed a gun at him twice—once near Lake Park and again west of Detroit Lakes—leaving him fearing for his life. The man recognized Espinoza as the current husband of his ex-girlfriend, with whom he had a rocky history.
Deputies later stopped Espinoza in Detroit Lakes and found a loaded Glock 19 in the glove box and a .22 rifle in the trunk. Espinoza denied brandishing the weapon.
He was released on $20,000 bond after a May 27 court hearing. His next court date is scheduled for August 4 before Judge Michael Fritz.
