Detroit Lakes Man Busted: Meth Stash Found in “Perry’s Office” Leads to Becker County Sentencing

Detroit Lakes (trfnews.i234.me) — Shocking details emerged as Perry Lee Heinonen Sr., 65, of Detroit Lakes, was sentenced in Becker County District Court on felony fifth-degree drug charges.

On September 30, 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a Becker County residence and discovered two baggies containing 3.97 grams of methamphetamine inside a room labeled with a sign reading “Perry’s Office.” Heinonen admitted ownership of some of the meth. In a separate bedroom belonging to another person, officers also found 0.95 grams of meth.

Heinonen pleaded guilty on November 26, 2024. Judge Michelle W. Lawson sentenced him on March 12 to 12 months in St. Cloud prison, stayed for five years, plus 15 days in Becker County Jail (credit for two days served). He also faces $650 in fines and fees and a five-year probation, during which he must undergo a comprehensive care assessment and refrain from possessing firearms or explosives.
