Deadly Wheels: Tokio Woman Indicted for Involuntary Manslaughter on Spirit Lake Reservation

FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A 30-year-old woman from Tokio, North Dakota, has been indicted for involuntary manslaughter and child neglect after a fatal car crash on the Spirit Lake Reservation.

Tierra Lynn Scott was taken into custody Wednesday, Oct. 16, following her initial appearance in federal court where she faced charges of involuntary manslaughter and three counts of child neglect. The indictment alleges that Scott was driving recklessly while under the influence of alcohol and in possession of controlled substances when a fatal crash occurred on Aug. 17.

According to investigators from the FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs, Scott’s vehicle struck an adult male who later died at the scene. Three children were also present in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori H. Conroy. Scott has been detained pending her trial on Dec. 10.
