Crookston Woman Faces Felony Drug, DWI Charges
Crookston (trfnews.i234.me) — A Crookston woman faces felony drug possession and gross misdemeanor DWI charges.
Megan Marie Swatlowski, 35, is charged in Polk County District Court.
The charges stem from an April 28, 2026, investigation in Crookston.
Prosecutors also gave notice that they may seek an aggravated sentence if Swatlowski is convicted.
Police Follow Van Through Crookston
Police first saw Swatlowski driving a silver Dodge Caravan into the Happy Joe’s parking lot around 1:45 p.m.
An officer later reported seeing Swatlowski slumped over in the driver’s seat for about 20 minutes.
She then drove through several Crookston streets before stopping near her Summit Avenue residence.
The complaint says her route passed within 300 feet of Locken Park and Central Park.
Police reported seeing Swatlowski slumped over again after she parked the van.
An officer then approached her after she exited the vehicle.
The complaint describes rapid movements, slurred speech, dilated pupils, and rapid talking.
Swatlowski later acknowledged using methamphetamine four days earlier in Grand Forks, according to prosecutors.

Scale With Crystal Residue Found
Swatlowski agreed to perform field sobriety tests and consented to a search of the van.
Police reported finding a scale containing white crystal residue inside one of her bags.
Swatlowski allegedly said the scale belonged to her boyfriend.
She told investigators that she believed it was used for marijuana, according to the complaint.
Swatlowski later provided a urine sample at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
An on-site test was positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, oxycodone, and THC, prosecutors say.
Swatlowski said she had a Suboxone prescription and discussed her recent methamphetamine use with investigators.
Two Charges And Sentencing Notice
Prosecutors charged Swatlowski with third-degree controlled substance possession in a prohibited zone.
That felony carries up to 20 years in prison and a possible $250,000 fine.
She also faces third-degree DWI involving a Schedule I or II controlled substance.
The complaint lists a maximum of 354 days in jail and a $3,000 fine for that charge.
A 2017 controlled-substance DWI conviction is cited as the aggravating factor.
Prosecutors also cite Swatlowski’s prior felony drug convictions in their aggravated sentencing notice.
The case is filed as Polk County court file 60-CR-26-674.
Readers can review Minnesota Statute 152.023 for third-degree drug offenses.
Minnesota’s DWI law is available under Minnesota Statute 169A.20.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
Swatlowski is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
