Crookston, Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) Anne Marie Kopecky, 43, of Crookston, has been charged in Polk County District Court after a March 24 traffic stop near a school drop-off area. The complaint lists two gross misdemeanor counts and one petty misdemeanor count.
Charges Filed In Polk County
According to the criminal complaint, Kopecky is charged with driving after cancellation as being inimical to public safety. She is also charged with driving without a required ignition interlock device. A third count alleges she drove a vehicle with expired registration.
Court records say the stop happened in Crookston at about 8:20 a.m. The vehicle was a gray Honda Pilot. The complaint states the SUV still displayed a 2025 registration sticker, even though the registration had expired in October 2025.
The complaint says Kopecky told authorities she was taking her child to school. She did not have her driver’s license with her at the time, according to the filing.
What The Complaint Says Happened
Authorities say a records check showed Kopecky’s license had been canceled on June 8, 2023. The complaint also says her driving record required an ignition interlock device.
The court filing states no ignition interlock device was seen in the Honda Pilot. The complaint also says Dale Kopecky, identified as the vehicle’s registered owner, later came to the scene.
According to the complaint, Dale Kopecky told authorities Anne Marie Kopecky had been using the vehicle for about a year. He also said an ignition interlock device had not been installed in that SUV.
Case Still In Early Stage
The charges are only allegations at this stage. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The gross misdemeanor counts each carry a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both. The registration count is listed as a petty misdemeanor.
