Crookston, Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) A Crookston woman now faces four charges after a traffic stop turned into a short pursuit.

According to a criminal complaint, 42-year-old Jennie Gutierrez is charged with felony fleeing police in a motor vehicle. She also faces third-degree DWI, open bottle, and driving after revocation charges.

What the complaint says

The complaint says an officer tried to stop a blue 2009 Hyundai Sonata around 12:50 a.m. on March 18, 2026. The stop began after the officer saw dark window tint on the car.

Court records say the driver did not stop right away. The vehicle kept moving for about 0.7 miles. The complaint says the delay lasted about two minutes and 25 seconds.

Gutierrez later told law enforcement that she saw the emergency lights. She said she kept driving because she was tired. She also said she did not think she had done anything wrong.

Authorities said Gutierrez had red and glossy eyes during the stop. A male passenger was also in the car.

During a vehicle search, law enforcement found an empty BuzzBall drink container behind the driver’s seat. Investigators also learned Gutierrez’s driving privileges were revoked in Minnesota and North Dakota.

The complaint says Gutierrez was taken to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston. There, she did not complete field sobriety tests in a satisfactory way.

The complaint says officers could not reach a judge for a search warrant. Because Gutierrez was on active probation, officers requested a urine sample. The complaint says she agreed.

An on-site test showed a presumptive positive result for methamphetamine. The same test showed inconclusive results for amphetamine and fentanyl.

Charges and court record

Prosecutors also cited prior convictions in Minnesota and North Dakota. Those records include drug and impaired driving cases listed in the complaint.

The case was filed in Polk County District Court. Public case details can be searched through Minnesota Court Records Online.

The fleeing charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 609.487. The DWI count is tied to Minnesota Statute 169A.20 and Minnesota Statute 169A.26. The open bottle count cites Minnesota Statute 169A.35. The revoked license count cites Minnesota Statute 171.24.

Like all criminal cases, the charges are allegations until proven in court.
