POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Crookston man waived his omnibus hearing on Thursday, June 6, and pleaded not guilty to third-degree controlled substance crimes.

Gary Herbert Sundquist, 64, could face up to 20 years in prison for third-degree controlled substance sale and possession in a prohibited zone.

According to a probable cause statement, Sundquist was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over on November 6. Law enforcement suspected he was under the influence of a controlled substance. Sundquist consented to a urine sample, which tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, and THC.

The driver of the vehicle, also believed to be under the influence, told law enforcement he used methamphetamine two days prior and that Sundquist provided it. A search warrant executed on a residence where Sundquist was staying part-time revealed drug paraphernalia and residue.

Sundquist’s pre-trial hearing is set for 9 a.m. on June 27.
