POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Crookston man appeared in court on Thursday, June 6, facing eight felony drug charges.

Aladdin Da’jion Bankhead, 30, is charged with conspiracy to commit a first-degree controlled substance crime, first-degree sale of at least 17 grams of methamphetamine within 90 days, two counts of second-degree sale of methamphetamine in a park zone, and two counts each of methamphetamine and cocaine possession in a prohibited zone.

The first-degree charges carry maximum 30-year sentences. The enhanced penalties for the prohibited zones charges stem from Bankhead’s residence being within 300 feet of Courtyard Park in Crookston.

Law enforcement suspected Bankhead of using and distributing drugs based on his behavior and statements from others, including claims that he supplied methamphetamine. Bankhead admitted to using marijuana and cocaine and acting as a middleman for marijuana, but denied selling other drugs.

A drug test confirmed the presence of cocaine, methamphetamine, amphetamine, and THC in his system. During a search of his residence on March 15, police found a smashed cell phone, drug paraphernalia, a scale, fentanyl test strips, testing kits, and residue of methamphetamine and cocaine.

Bankhead’s omnibus hearing is set for 9 a.m. on June 25.
