Crookston Man Charged With Meth Near School

CROOKSTON (trfnews.i234.me) — A Crookston man faces a felony drug charge following an incident near an elementary school.

Arjundip Singh Daaljit, 36, is charged with third-degree controlled substance possession in a prohibited zone.

The case was filed in Polk County District Court under court file 60-CR-26-862.

The charge is based on events reported on June 21, 2026.

Police Respond to Balcony Report

Police were called to an apartment building on Third Avenue Northeast in Crookston.

A caller reported a person standing on a balcony and yelling.

The building sits across from Highland Elementary School and the school district bus garage.

Officers contacted Daaljit outside the building, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint says he moved his head and arms often.

It also says he appeared to speak with people who were not present.

Daaljit told police he had not used drugs.

Pipe Allegedly Found Near Apartment

Police said Daaljit identified his home as an upstairs apartment.

An officer then saw a glass pipe outside the apartment door, according to the complaint.

The pipe had white residue and was collected as evidence.

A field test was presumptively positive for methamphetamine, according to the complaint.

Police arrested Daaljit and searched him.

No other evidence was found on his person, the complaint says.

Daaljit was taken to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center.

Jail staff requested medical clearance before booking.

He was then taken to RiverView Emergency Room in Crookston.

The complaint says a urine test was positive for methamphetamine.

Daaljit was medically cleared and returned to jail without further incident.

Felony Charge Carries Possible Prison Time

Prosecutors allege the pipe was within the protected area around Highland Elementary School.

Minnesota law covers methamphetamine possession in school zones and other protected places.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

It also carries a possible fine of up to $250,000.

Readers can review Minnesota Statute 152.023 online.

A criminal complaint contains allegations. Daaljit is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
