Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Crookston man with a lengthy history of traffic violations is once again facing legal trouble after being caught driving without insurance or a valid license. According to a criminal complaint filed in Polk County District Court, Djai Dvossiai Mackateri Johnson, 25, was stopped on March 6, 2025, by a Minnesota State Patrol trooper on Highway 2 near 300th Avenue SW in Lowell Township.

Trooper Scott Olslund initiated a traffic stop after noticing Johnson’s vehicle had a headlight out. Upon questioning, Johnson admitted he did not have a driver’s license or vehicle insurance. A record check revealed his license had been revoked since October 2024 and that he had multiple past convictions for similar offenses, including at least three within the last 10 years.

Johnson is now charged with:

  • Count I: Uninsured Vehicle Driver Violation (Gross Misdemeanor)

  • Count II: Driving After Revocation (Misdemeanor)

His extensive history includes prior convictions for driving without insurance, without a valid license, and after revocation, some dating back to 2019.

A summons has been issued for his court appearance. Failure to appear could result in an arrest warrant under Minnesota Statute 609.49.
