Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – On November 21, law enforcement received a report about a convicted felon, Robert Leonhard Chute, 38, of Thief River Falls, allegedly having firearms and a silencer in his vehicle. Chute has been charged with being an ineligible person in possession of ammunition, a felony under a protection order.
Following the report, search warrants were executed for Chute’s vehicle, home at 826 Pleasant Ave., and person. No evidence was found in his vehicle, but investigators located a .380-caliber handgun round on a shelf under a TV in his bedroom.
Chute admitted to law enforcement that he knew he could not possess ammunition. He explained that the bullet had fallen out of a guest’s purse, and although he had discarded it, he later retrieved it to return to her but hadn’t done so.
Chute has prior convictions, including drug possession (2013), domestic assault (2016), terroristic threats (2017), and a firearm violation (2010), all of which bar him from possessing firearms or ammunition.
