Cody Logan Teie, 33, of rural Thief River Falls, Minnesota, passed away on February 28, 2026. He was born on October 20, 1992, in Thief River Falls to Corey Lynn and Hillary Hope (Peterson) Teie.
Cody was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He grew up in Pennington County, attending Challenger Elementary School, Franklin Middle School, and graduating with the Lincoln High School Class of 2011.
From a young age, Cody developed a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for hands‑on craftsmanship. While still in high school, he began part‑time work at Northern Woodwork Inc., a place that quickly became a second home for him. After graduation, he continued full time, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to the business and the people within it. In 2024, through years of commitment and pride in his trade, Cody became a part owner—a milestone that reflected both his skill and his character.
On July 20, 2013 he became a father to Kinley. From that moment on she had become his whole world. Cody and Shantel Ortloff were young when they became parents but through it all they remained good friends. He was the dad that showed up! He was at all her school programs, volleyball games, basketball games, and dance shows. He made sure to get her to where she needed to be. Cody and Shantel did an amazing job at co-parenting; they always put Kinley first.
Cody’s life was filled with the outdoors and the joy he found in it. He loved four‑wheeling, hunting, and especially golfing, but his greatest passion—his true love—was snowmobiling. Winter was his favorite season, and he cherished every mile on the trails. Many of his closest friendships and happiest memories were made doing what he loved most, exploring the snow-covered countryside. He also went on many trips out west with his dad, grandpa Lynn and many of his friends. One of his best memories was going to the Summer X Games in California with his Grandpa Gordie.
Cody is survived by his daughter Kinley Teie and her mother Shantel Ortloff; parents, Corey and Hillary Teie; his sisters Cassandra (Chris) Reierson and Haley Teie; and his favorite niece, Cayda Reierson, who brought him endless joy. He also leaves his grandparents Gordie & Jan Peterson and Lynn & Rose Teie; his aunts Angie Teie Westing and Kim (Mike) Prehatney; his uncle Darin Teie; and cousins Justine Teie, Damian Teie, Kylie Westling, Lynsie Westling, and Annika Prehatney.
He was preceded in death by his great‑grandparents Gorden & Juliette Stenerson, Clarence & Lucy Peterson, Norris & Clara Johnson, and by one of his best friends, Aaron Schneider, whose memory he carried with him always.
Cody will be remembered for his quiet strength, loyalty, genuine heart, and the way he embraced the simple joys of life—family, friends, faith, and the wide‑open outdoors he loved so dearly. His absence will be felt deeply, yet his memory will live on in every story shared, every trail ridden, and every moment of laughter he inspired.
