Cass Lake Woman Charged In DWI Case

Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Cass Lake woman is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge after a traffic stop in Beltrami County.

According to a court complaint filed in Minnesota District Court, Janna Kay Wolff, of Cass Lake, is charged with second-degree DWI. The charge alleges she operated a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more within two hours of driving.

The complaint says the alleged offense happened on April 24, 2026. The case is filed in Beltrami County District Court under court file number 04-CR-26-1006.

Traffic Stop On Mission Road

According to the complaint, a Beltrami County deputy saw a white SUV backing up on a roadway near Ten Lakes Township. The SUV then turned onto Mission Road.

The complaint alleges the vehicle made a wide turn and entered the northbound lane while traveling south. The vehicle allegedly stayed in that lane for about 100 yards before moving back.

Authorities say the SUV crossed the centerline again while traveling on a blind hill. Emergency lights and a siren were used during the stop.

The vehicle later stopped on Mission Road, about a half mile south of Jenkins Road.

Court Complaint Details

The complaint states Wolff was identified as the driver. Authorities allege she handed over a debit card when asked for her license and proof of insurance.

The deputy reported that Wolff had poor dexterity and appeared confused. The complaint also says a spilled liquid was seen on the passenger floor mat.

Authorities said the liquid smelled strongly of alcohol. The complaint says Wolff had trouble forming sentences and had poor balance after leaving the vehicle.

A preliminary breath test allegedly showed a result of .26. A later DataMaster breath test allegedly showed a result of .22.

During a search of the vehicle, authorities reported finding wine containers. The complaint says one container appeared to be linked to the spilled liquid.

Prior Convictions Listed

The complaint states Wolff has two prior DWI convictions within the last ten years. It lists a 2020 DWI conviction in Itasca County.

It also lists a 2021 second-degree DWI refusal conviction in Cass County.

The current charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor. The maximum sentence is 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.

More information about Minnesota DWI laws is available through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes. Court case information may also be searched through the Minnesota Judicial Branch.

A criminal complaint is not a conviction. Wolff is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
