Cass County Woman Faces Felony Drug Charge

Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Minneapolis woman faces a felony drug charge after an arrest on an outstanding warrant.

Cherice Marie Williams, 37, is charged with fifth-degree controlled substance possession. The charge was filed in Cass County District Court.

The criminal complaint alleges Williams possessed substances containing fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine.

The reported incident happened on May 9, 2026.

Arrest Followed Outstanding Warrant

According to the complaint, Bemidji police took Williams into custody at about 5 p.m.

Authorities said she had an outstanding Cass County warrant for failing to appear in court.

Williams had two bags when officers took her into custody. She was transported to the Cass County Detention Center.

Jail staff searched Williams during the booking process. The complaint says they found a folded blue note containing powder.

The material weighed about 0.06 grams, according to court records.

Williams reportedly told authorities the powder came from medication she had crushed.

Authorities then searched Williams’ bags, according to the complaint.

Inside a purse, staff allegedly found a small blue pouch containing foil and suspected drug items.

A folded piece of foil contained a white powder, the complaint states.

A field test reportedly showed the substance contained fentanyl. It weighed about 0.03 grams.

Staff later found a folded $5 bill during another search, according to court records.

The bill allegedly contained about one gram of white powder.

Investigators reported that the material tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride, freebase cocaine, and crack cocaine.

Williams again said the substances were crushed medications, according to the complaint.

Fifth-degree drug possession is a felony under Minnesota Statute 152.025.

A conviction may carry up to five years in prison. It may also bring a fine of up to $10,000.

The charge is an allegation. Williams is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
