Cass County Man Faces Felony Ammo Charge

Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — Bryant Eugene Cooper faces a felony ammunition charge following an encounter with Cass County authorities.

Cooper also faces a misdemeanor charge for allegedly fleeing an officer on a bicycle.

Deputy Attempts To Stop Cooper

According to the complaint, an officer tried to stop Cooper around 1:41 a.m. on September 9, 2026.

The complaint says Cooper was riding a bicycle when the officer activated emergency lights and a siren.

Investigators allege Cooper did not stop.

Instead, he allegedly began pedaling faster while trying to get away.

The complaint says Cooper was eventually stopped and taken into custody.

No officer names are included in this report.

Four Live Rounds Allegedly Found

Authorities searched Cooper after his arrest, according to the complaint.

Investigators say four live 9mm rounds were found in a shorts pocket.

The shorts were being worn underneath Cooper’s pants, the complaint states.

Prosecutors allege Cooper was prohibited from possessing ammunition because of a prior felony conviction.

The complaint cites a January 14, 2026, conviction for fifth-degree controlled substance crime.

That conviction is listed under court file 71-CR-25-1663.

Felony And Misdemeanor Charges Filed

Count One charges Cooper with possession of ammunition by an ineligible person.

The charge is filed under Minnesota Statute 624.713.

The complaint lists a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

It also lists a possible $30,000 fine.

The complaint additionally references Minnesota’s firearm sentencing provisions.

Those laws can be reviewed under Minnesota Statute 609.11.

Count Two charges Cooper with fleeing a peace officer by means other than a vehicle.

That misdemeanor carries up to 90 days in jail.

It also carries a possible fine of up to $1,000.
