Cass County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – Two people are in custody following a foot pursuit during a traffic stop in Mapleton, North Dakota, late Saturday morning.

Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner reported that deputies stopped a vehicle with expired registration at County Road 10 and Meridian Road around 11:00 a.m. During the stop, deputies located narcotics in the vehicle and began searching it.

As deputies attempted to detain the occupants, the male suspect – later identified as 20-year-old Jabez Beyan – fled on foot into a residential neighborhood. Additional deputies and North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers established a perimeter, and a Cass County Alert was issued to Mapleton residents.

Beyan was arrested a few blocks away, along with the female passenger, identified as 18-year-old Zannika Wobbema. Both suspects were transported to the Cass County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
