ST. PAUL, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) – A Burnsville woman, Ashley Dyrdahl, has admitted to straw purchasing firearms later used in a fatal incident involving law enforcement and emergency personnel.
Court records reveal that Dyrdahl purchased five firearms from two licensed dealers and illegally transferred them to her partner, Shannon Cortez Gooden, who was a felon and prohibited from owning firearms.
On February 18, 2024, Gooden used two of these firearms in an ambush that resulted in the deaths of police officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, as well as firefighter paramedic Adam Finseth. Another officer sustained injuries in the attack. Gooden was later found to have died by suicide, according to the medical examiner.
Dyrdahl has pleaded guilty to two counts of straw purchasing firearms. Her sentencing hearing is yet to be scheduled.
