BURLEIGH COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — Authorities say a Rapid City woman is under investigation after fleeing a traffic stop and crashing her vehicle in Bismarck late Thursday night.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the incident began around 11:42 p.m. on October 2, when a trooper stopped a Hyundai Sonata for a traffic violation near State Street and Interstate Avenue in Bismarck.

During the stop, the driver fled the scene in the vehicle. The trooper did not pursue. A short time later, the suspect’s vehicle crashed at the curve of Boulevard Avenue and State Street.

The driver ran from the scene on foot. A search of the area by law enforcement was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

Inside the Hyundai Sonata, officers discovered a stolen handgun and drug paraphernalia. The driver was identified as Whitney Bagola, 31, of Rapid City, South Dakota.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. The Bismarck Police Department and other local agencies assisted at the scene.

The case remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Authorities say additional charges are likely once the suspect is located.

Anyone with information about Bagola’s whereabouts is asked to contact local law enforcement or the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
