SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State softball senior Emilee Buringa was named to the 2024 Summit League Softball Academic All-League Team, announced the league office Wednesday.
Buringa is a three-time winner of the award, as she also won it last season and in 2022.
Buringa, who earned Second Team All-Summit League honors this season after starting every game in centerfield for NDSU, holds a 4.0 GPA and is a double major in Physical Education and Health Education. The St. Charles, Minn. native was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the third time in May, after being named the Summit League Scholar of the Championship. The junior finished the season with a .230 batting average, two home runs, 27 runs, a team high 22 walks and a .346 on base percentage.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team’s competitions, except pitchers who must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s total contests.
Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league’s participating members, and voting is conducted by both SIDs and FARs. The teams are made up of ten student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
