Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) – A heated argument turned into a dangerous late-night drive for one Thief River Falls man. Around 12:06 a.m. on June 7, police conducted a traffic stop in an alleyway between the 300 blocks of Duluth Avenue South and Arnold Avenue South.

Preston Anthony Moen, 21, of Thief River Falls, was behind the wheel and has since been charged with third-degree DWI – with a blood alcohol content of 0.16 or greater. During the stop, Moen allegedly admitted to driving aggressively following an argument with his girlfriend.

Police noted signs of impairment, and a law enforcement intern spotted alcohol containers in the bed of Moen’s pickup. When questioned, Moen allegedly said he had consumed two alcoholic beverages that night. After failing field sobriety tests, Moen submitted to a breath test, which revealed a 0.19 BAC—more than double the legal limit.

Moen was arrested at the scene.
