St. Michael (trfnews.i234.me)— The Spirit Lake Tribal Council has issued a correction regarding the fatal shooting that took place on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the Mission District of St. Michael.
Initially, officials reported that three individuals had lost their lives in the incident involving four members of the Spirit Lake Tribe, including the suspect. However, after further investigation, law enforcement confirmed that only two victims were pronounced dead, while one remains in critical condition.
The council expressed deep regret for the error, emphasizing the devastating impact this tragedy has had on the community. They also acknowledged delays in communication due to the shelter-in-place order and apologized to the affected families.
While names have not been officially released, reports indicate that Christy Gaging remains in critical condition, while her daughter, Tiana Walking Eagle, and Tiana’s young child tragically lost their lives.
Authorities continue their investigation, and the suspect remains in custody.
