GRAND FORKS, ND – Shannon Lahaise, the Director of Grand Forks’ 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), has officially parted ways with the city. According to John Bernstrom, the Grand Forks City Public Information Officer, the decision comes after meetings with the Mayor, City Administrator, and other boards. The fire department will temporarily take charge of the 911 center as administrators work on the future direction of the department.
Concerns have been raised in recent months regarding staffing shortages at the center, with dispatchers reportedly working overtime and taking on shifts outside of their regular schedules. While the leadership of the 911 center transitions, the fire department will oversee operations.
TRF News has been following this development closely, and further updates will be provided as the situation progresses.
