Grand Forks County, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 1:35 PM, a boating incident occurred near the docks just north of the Sorlie Bridge on the Greenway in downtown Grand Forks. According to Sergeant Peton of the Grand Forks Police Department, a boat tipped over, sending three individuals, including a small child, into the Red River.
Sergeant Peton reported that all three individuals were rescued from the water and are safe. “It did sound like they were underwater for quite a while, but thankfully, there was a kid down here that was helping and able to get people out of the water,” he stated. Emergency responders treated the individuals on the scene.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and the quick actions of bystanders and emergency personnel in preventing potential tragedies.
