GRAND FORKS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – A dramatic high-speed pursuit through the streets of Grand Forks ended in a crash and arrest early June 22, when Ryan Schaf of Bismarck tried to outrun officers at speeds reaching 96 MPH.
Just before 2:00 a.m., officers attempted to pull over Schaf’s black pickup on 69th Street South. The chase escalated until police deployed spike strips at 48th Street and 32nd Avenue South, shredding a front tire. Despite this, Schaf continued driving on the rim before crashing into a city-owned planter near Cherry Street.
Officers found a syringe in plain view, and further search uncovered a loaded syringe, a used syringe, and a marijuana joint. Both syringes field-tested positive for meth.
Schaf, already wanted on a North Dakota State Penitentiary warrant, now faces multiple felony charges:
-
Reckless Endangerment
-
Fleeing a Peace Officer
-
Possession of Methamphetamine
-
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-
Criminal Mischief
