Bena Woman Charged After Meth Found in Purse

BENA, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bena woman faces a felony drug charge after methamphetamine was allegedly found inside her purse.

Leah Marie White has been charged with fifth-degree drug possession in Cass County District Court.

The charge is a felony under Minnesota Statute 152.025.

A criminal complaint alleges the incident happened on June 28, 2026, in Cass County.

White is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Deputies Called to Bena Residence

According to the complaint, deputies were called to a home in Bena.

A family gathering connected to a funeral was taking place at the residence.

Callers reported that White was causing problems and would not leave.

The complaint says her actions and comments raised concerns about the group’s safety.

A deputy removed White from the residence after she packed belongings into a duffel bag.

Authorities then learned White was on probation.

Probation officials requested a drug test based on information gathered during the call.

White was taken to the Cass County Law Enforcement Center for testing.

The complaint says the urine test was positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, and THC.

Corrections staff later searched White’s belongings at the facility.

They allegedly found a small plastic bag inside her purse.

The bag contained a white crystal-like substance, according to the complaint.

A field test allegedly showed the substance contained methamphetamine.

Authorities reported that the substance weighed about 0.43 grams.

Prosecutors allege White possessed a mixture containing methamphetamine.

Methamphetamine is listed as a Schedule II controlled substance under Minnesota law.

The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

It also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.

The court may impose either punishment or both after a conviction.
