Bena Man Faces Felony Domestic Assault Charge
BENA, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Anthony Lee King Jr. faces two charges in Cass County District Court.
Prosecutors charged King with felony domestic assault and misdemeanor fourth-degree property damage. The charges stem from an alleged disturbance on April 10, 2026, at a Bena home.
A criminal complaint says the incident was reported around 8:35 p.m. The complaint is an allegation, not proof of guilt. King is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Complaint Describes Alleged Assault
According to the complaint, King arrived at the home while intoxicated. His mother told investigators that he stumbled into the kitchen and began urinating there. She said she confronted him about his behavior.
Prosecutors allege King then struck her head several times with his fists. The woman reportedly grabbed a small wooden shelf to protect herself. The complaint says King pulled away the shelf and struck her with it.
Investigators also alleged he threw a television during the dispute. The television broke and was valued at less than $500.

A responding deputy reported seeing redness on the woman’s cheek and a bump behind her head. The complaint also described bruising on her head and a scratch on her left forearm. Broken shelf pieces were reportedly found inside the home.
Deputies searched the area but did not find King that night.
Felony and Misdemeanor Charges Filed
Count One accuses King of felony domestic assault under Minnesota Statute 609.2242, subdivision 4. The complaint lists a maximum sentence of five years, a $10,000 fine, or both.
Prosecutors claim the felony level applies because of two qualifying convictions within ten years. The complaint lists one third-degree assault conviction and one domestic assault conviction. Both convictions were entered on September 15, 2025, according to the filing.
Count Two alleges intentional fourth-degree property damage under Minnesota Statute 609.595, subdivision 3. The misdemeanor carries up to 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both.
Court Case Remains Pending
The filing asks the court to issue a summons. Neither a plea nor a final outcome appears in the complaint provided to TRF News.
The case was filed under court file 11-CR-26-789. Public case information may be available through Minnesota Court Records Online.
Readers may also contact the Cass County District Court for official court information.
The court will determine whether prosecutors can prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
