Bemidji Woman Faces DWI Charge With Grandson in Car
Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — Anita Rose Dunn faces a gross misdemeanor DWI charge following a September traffic stop in Bemidji.
Dunn, 42, is charged in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District Court in Beltrami County.
The complaint alleges Dunn drove while her body contained a Schedule I or II controlled substance.
The charge excludes cannabis and hemp products covered by Minnesota law.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
Traffic Stop Leads to DWI Investigation
Authorities stopped Dunn’s vehicle on September 5, 2026, according to the criminal complaint.
The stop occurred near Little Caesars in Beltrami County.
Police reported that Dunn did not have a driver’s license or identification with her.
An officer also reported that Dunn had glassy eyes and spoke quickly.
The complaint says Dunn appeared rigid during the initial conversation.
Several passengers were inside the vehicle.
One passenger was Dunn’s four-year-old grandson, according to the complaint.
Police asked Dunn to step outside because of suspected impairment and her license status.
The complaint states she paced and later fidgeted with her hands.
Authorities also reported eyelid tremors during an impairment check.
Complaint Cites Methamphetamine Admission
Dunn allegedly admitted smoking methamphetamine within 72 hours before the traffic stop.
Police then conducted field sobriety tests.
The complaint reports several alleged problems during those tests.
Those included missed heel-to-toe steps and raising her arms for balance.
Authorities also said Dunn incorrectly estimated a 30-second period.
Dunn was arrested and taken to a hospital.
A judge approved a warrant for a blood sample, according to the complaint.
Dunn provided the sample before she was taken to jail.
Gross Misdemeanor Charge Filed
Prosecutors charged Dunn under Minnesota Statute 169A.20.
The complaint alleges that two or more aggravating factors were present.
It cites a prior DWI conviction from 2018.
The complaint also notes the four-year-old child was inside the vehicle.
The charge carries up to 364 days in jail.
It also carries a maximum fine of $3,000.

Dunn is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
