Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — Krysta Lynne King-Merrick, 38, of Bemidji, is facing felony and gross misdemeanor charges in Beltrami County District Court.
The case stems from a March 28, 2026, custody dispute in Beltrami County. Court records list the case as 04-CR-26-755.
King-Merrick is charged with second-degree burglary of a dwelling. She is also charged with interfering with an emergency 911 call.
The burglary charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. It also carries a possible $20,000 fine.
The 911 interference charge carries up to 364 days in jail. It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.
Deputies Called To Custody Dispute
According to the complaint, deputies responded around 8:15 p.m. to a residence on Doberman Court Southeast.
The call was reported as a disorderly custody dispute.
Two people, identified in court records as J.D. and M.H., spoke with deputies at the scene.
They reported that J.D. had an ex parte child custody order. The order was issued through the Red Lake Tribal Courts.
The order gave J.D. full custody of the children shared with King-Merrick, according to the complaint.
Complaint Says 911 Call Was Interrupted
The complaint says King-Merrick arrived at the home and received a copy of the custody order.
M.H. then went back inside the residence, which belonged to J.D.
About one minute later, King-Merrick allegedly entered the home without permission.
Authorities say King-Merrick did not live at the address. They also say she had no ownership interest there.
During the incident, M.H. called 911, according to the complaint.
While M.H. was on the phone, King-Merrick allegedly slapped M.H.’s hand.
She also allegedly tried to take the phone from M.H.
Charges Remain Allegations
The charges are allegations at this stage. King-Merrick is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
