Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) ā A Bemidji woman is facing two assault charges after a reported disturbance on May 7, 2026.
Promise Rose Weiss, 38, of Bemidji, is charged in Beltrami County District Court. The case is filed under court file number 04-CR-26-1069.
The complaint charges Weiss with felony domestic assault. She is also charged with fifth-degree assault, a gross misdemeanor.
Under Minnesota Statute 609.2242, felony domestic assault can carry up to five years in prison. It can also carry a $10,000 fine, or both.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to Calihan Avenue Northeast in Bemidji. The call came in around 11:29 p.m.
A pregnant woman told officers that Weiss punched her in the stomach. The woman said she was scared of Weiss.
The complaint says the woman and X.J. were in a bathroom together. The woman said Weiss forced her way inside.
She told officers Weiss was swinging her arms. She said Weiss struck her in the stomach.

X.J. told officers Weiss slapped him on the right side of his face. He said Weiss is his mother.
The complaint says officers saw redness on X.J.ās cheek. He also reported a burning feeling from the slap.
Prior Convictions Listed
Weiss denied assaulting anyone, according to the complaint. She was later arrested for domestic assault.
The complaint says Weiss gave a preliminary breath test at the Beltrami County Jail. The result was reported as .229.

The complaint also states Weiss was on supervised probation. That probation involved prior DWI and child endangerment convictions.
