Bemidji Woman Charged After 0.22 DWI Test

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji woman faces two criminal charges after a late-night traffic stop in June.

Leola Renee Grayhawk has been charged in Beltrami County District Court.

The charges include third-degree driving while impaired and driving after revocation.

The DWI count is a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 169A.20.

The revoked-license count is a misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 171.24.

Traffic Stop in Bemidji

According to the criminal complaint, the traffic stop happened around 11:31 p.m. on June 20, 2026.

Police saw a truck traveling on Irvine Avenue in Bemidji.

A records check showed the registered owner’s driving privileges were revoked.

Police stopped the truck near 18th Street and Irvine Avenue.

The complaint states the truck slowed but continued moving for a short distance.

It stopped after the patrol vehicle’s horn was used.

Grayhawk was identified as the driver and registered owner, according to the complaint.

Police reported smelling alcohol coming from the vehicle.

The complaint also says Grayhawk had trouble focusing on more than one task.

She reportedly told police she had consumed a few drinks.

Grayhawk completed several roadside sobriety tests.

The complaint alleges she did not perform the tests successfully.

A preliminary breath test reportedly showed an alcohol concentration of 0.21.

She was arrested and taken to the Beltrami County Jail.

Police later read Grayhawk the state’s breath-test advisory.

She asked to speak with an attorney but could not reach one.

She later spoke with a family member, the complaint states.

Grayhawk then agreed to provide a breath sample.

The official breath test reported a result of 0.22 at 12:33 a.m.

Court records cited in the complaint show a previous third-degree DWI conviction.

That conviction was entered on June 12, 2026.

The earlier case also involved a reported breath-test result of 0.22.

The complaint states Grayhawk’s license was revoked on April 14, 2026.

It remained revoked when the June 20 traffic stop occurred.

The gross-misdemeanor charge carries up to 364 days in jail.

It also carries a possible fine of up to $3,000.

The misdemeanor charge carries up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

A criminal charge is an accusation. Grayhawk is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
