BEMIDJI, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—Two Bemidji men, Gabriel Sweatt and Joshua Greenberg-Nelson, are facing major drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and a firearm, according to court documents.
On February 4, police pulled over Sweatt in Bemidji for driving a vehicle without a license plate. Greenberg-Nelson was a passenger in the car.
During the stop, Sweatt failed a field sobriety test, leading officers to conduct a search. Police discovered a .22 semi-automatic pistol in Sweatt’s pocket and found 52 grams of suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
Both Sweatt and Greenberg-Nelson have been charged with first-degree drug possession for having 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, a felony offense that carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
Additionally, Sweatt has been charged with misdemeanor DWI, while Greenberg-Nelson is also facing a pending felony stalking charge from September 2023.
This case underscores the serious legal consequences of drug-related offenses in Minnesota as authorities continue their crackdown on narcotics in the region.
