Bemidji, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Christopher Allen Bratvold-Wright faces a felony domestic assault charge in Beltrami County District Court.
The charge follows a reported domestic incident on September 18, 2026, in Bemidji.
According to the complaint, police responded around 8:18 a.m. after receiving a report of a domestic assault.
A woman identified as B.P. told police she argued with Bratvold-Wright over vehicle keys.
She said the argument later became physical.
Complaint Details Alleged Altercation
B.P. told investigators Bratvold-Wright refused to give her the vehicle keys.
She alleged he then kicked her in the side of her leg.
The complaint says both people fell to the ground after the alleged kick.
B.P. alleged Bratvold-Wright held her down while they were on the ground.
She said he released her after she screamed for help.
Police reported seeing bruising or discoloration on her upper right thigh.
A witness also spoke with investigators after hearing B.P. call for help.
The witness reported seeing B.P. running away from Bratvold-Wright.
The complaint says Bratvold-Wright then left the area in the vehicle.
Bratvold-Wright Gives Different Account
Police later found Bratvold-Wright at Walmart, where he was arrested.
After being advised of his rights, he gave investigators his account of the incident.
Bratvold-Wright said B.P. had locked him out of their home.
He said they argued after he entered the residence.
He told investigators the argument later moved outside.
Bratvold-Wright said B.P. pushed him and he pushed her back.
He said both then fell to the ground.
Bratvold-Wright said his knee struck B.P.’s leg during the fall.
He said that caused the bruising investigators observed.
Felony Charge Filed
Prosecutors charged Bratvold-Wright with felony domestic assault under Minnesota Statute 609.2242.
The complaint alleges the offense involved fear of immediate bodily harm or death.
It also states Bratvold-Wright has three prior domestic-violence-related convictions within the past ten years.
The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
It also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.
