Bemidji Man Faces 3 Felonies in Drug, Gun Case

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — Christopher Adam Cross faces three felony charges following an August drug investigation in Bemidji.

Prosecutors charged Cross with two counts of second-degree controlled substance sale.

He also faces a felony firearm possession charge.

The drug counts involve hydrocodone and fentanyl, according to the criminal complaint.

Search Conducted at Bemidji Residence

Police assisted the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force with a search on August 17, 2026.

The search involved a residence on Beltrami Avenue Northwest in Bemidji.

Cross told investigators that he often stayed at the residence.

He also described a nearby shed as his regular hangout area.

According to the complaint, Cross admitted using methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl.

He also told investigators there were drugs and a 9mm pistol inside the shed.

Investigators searched the shed and found a black SAR-9 9mm pistol.

The firearm had a loaded magazine, according to the complaint.

Police also found 9mm ammunition, drug paraphernalia and a digital scale.

The scale had white crystal residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Investigators also reported finding several small bindles and distribution-style bags.

Some of those packages were marked with numbers, which investigators believed indicated sale prices.

Police also searched the residence and reported finding controlled substances inside.

Investigators found about 30.4 grams of pills containing acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitartrate.

Hydrocodone is a Schedule II controlled substance.

Authorities also found eight foil bindles containing about 4.6 grams of suspected fentanyl.

The substance field-tested positive for fentanyl, according to the complaint.

Additional hydrocodone pills, a digital scale and drug paraphernalia were also reported.

The complaint charges Cross with sale offenses based on the alleged drugs and surrounding evidence.

It does not describe a specific hand-to-hand drug transaction on August 17.

Prosecutors allege Cross was legally barred from possessing a firearm.

The complaint cites a 2012 first-degree burglary conviction from Cass County.

First-degree burglary is listed as a crime of violence under Minnesota Statute 624.712.

The drug charges fall under Minnesota Statute 152.022.

Each second-degree drug charge can carry up to 25 years and a $500,000 fine.

The firearm charge cites Minnesota Statute 624.713.

That felony can carry up to 15 years and a $30,000 fine.
