Bemidji Man Charged in Alleged Fentanyl Sale

BEMIDJI (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man faces a felony drug sale charge after an arrest in July.

Robbie James Cournoyer Sr. is charged in Beltrami County District Court with fourth-degree controlled substance sale.

The complaint lists the case as 04-CR-26-1709.

The charge was filed after an arrest on July 23, 2026.

Court records say officers saw Cournoyer riding a bicycle near Park Avenue Northwest and 28th Street Northwest.

Police learned he had an active arrest warrant.

Officers then contacted him and took him into custody.

Suspected Drugs Found During Jail Inventory

Cournoyer and his belongings were taken to the Beltrami County Jail.

A jail inventory led to the discovery of several suspected controlled substances, according to the complaint.

Police reported finding suspected fentanyl and suspected methamphetamine in several small containers.

They also found drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, and unused small baggies.

The complaint lists suspected fentanyl amounts of 1.22 grams, 0.83 grams, and 0.49 grams.

It also lists suspected methamphetamine amounts of 0.43 grams and 0.16 grams.

Investigators also reported finding 16.29 grams of an unknown white powder.

The powder was inside a jar labeled “cut,” according to the complaint.

The court filing says “cut” can be used to dilute illegal drugs.

Investigators said the scale and packaging also raised concerns about drug sales.

Prosecutors allege the items supported a fourth-degree controlled substance sale charge.

The complaint does not state that Cournoyer has been convicted in this case.

The felony charge was filed under Minnesota Statute 152.024.

The complaint lists a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, a $100,000 fine, or both.
