Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Bemidji man with a long history of driving violations and felony DWIs has been caught again behind the wheel—this time with no license, no insurance, and a fake registration sticker.
A Minnesota State Patrol trooper pulled over Joseph William Folstrom, 44, after spotting him hauling unsecured wood in a white Ford truck with a non-working brake light. The stop occurred on Highway 197 in Bemidji.
Folstrom admitted he didn’t have a valid driver’s license. A records check confirmed his license had been canceled as “inimical to public safety” since at least 2021. The truck also had expired registration, with 2026 tabs stolen from a different vehicle.
Folstrom now faces a gross misdemeanor for Driving After Cancellation – Inimical to Public Safety, which carries a potential sentence of up to 364 days in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
His criminal history includes:
-
Two felony 1st Degree DWI convictions
-
Three prior driving after cancellation offenses
