BELTRAMI COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Redby woman is facing felony drug charges and a gross misdemeanor DWI following a traffic stop in Bemidji, Minnesota, where she admitted to using fentanyl and was found in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

According to the criminal complaint, Alexis Leigh Cook, 32, was spotted by Officer Korinta of the Bemidji Police Department on the night of April 22, 2025, acting suspiciously in the Menards parking lot. After observing Cook and two others enter a vehicle and take evasive driving actions to avoid a red light, Officer Korinta initiated a traffic stop.

Cook was identified as the driver, and police noted signs of drug use—glassy eyes, constricted pupils, and difficulty following commands during field sobriety testing. Cook admitted she had smoked fentanyl earlier that day.

During a vehicle search, officers discovered a melted pen tube under the driver’s seat, and Cook’s purse contained burnt pipes, foil, and 8 Alprazolam pills—a Schedule IV controlled substance. Cook falsely claimed they were clonazepam for her brother. She also stated she uses methamphetamine and may have suffered nerve damage from drug use.

A urine sample was collected and submitted to the Minnesota BCA for toxicology testing. Cook’s license was revoked due to a prior DWI offense from 2017, with a revocation recorded on June 29, 2023.

Cook is charged with:

  • Felony fifth-degree drug possession

  • Gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI (Schedule I/II controlled substances)

She faces up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines if convicted on the felony charge.
