Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) Shana Lynn Reich, 23, of Remer, faces two charges in Beltrami County. The charges stem from a traffic stop. According to a criminal complaint, a deputy stopped Reich’s vehicle near Mission Road and Roosevelt Road SE because the license plate light was not working. The complaint says Reich showed signs of recent drug use. Those signs included glassy eyes, tremors, and sudden body movements.

Charges Filed

Reich is charged with fifth-degree drug possession and fourth-degree DWI. Court records say the drug charge involves methamphetamine. The DWI charge alleges she drove with a Schedule I or II substance, or its metabolite, in her body. The drug charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor. The DWI charge is listed as a misdemeanor.

According to the complaint, field sobriety tests were done during the stop. The complaint says Reich had trouble with balance during testing. It also says her pupils showed little reaction to light. Investigators then arrested her.

Evidence Listed in Complaint

The complaint says a search of the vehicle led to a purse tied to Reich. Inside, officers found a small bag with a white crystal substance. The complaint says that the substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. A search warrant was later obtained for a blood draw. The complaint says lab testing was still pending at the time of filing.

All charges are accusations at this stage. Reich is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Readers can review Minnesota court information through the Minnesota Judicial Branch. They can also read the state laws tied to the case at Minnesota Statute 152.025 and Minnesota Statute 169A.20.
