Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Bemidji man has been charged with two felony counts of terroristic threats after police say he threatened to kill two people during a downtown incident.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court, 53-year-old Daniel Patrick Flaherty is accused of threatening to commit acts of violence against a man and woman who attempted to check on his welfare on July 22, 2025.
Police say the victims, identified as R.B. and C.B., encountered Flaherty lying on a sidewalk downtown and asked if he was alright. Flaherty allegedly responded with multiple death threats toward both individuals, asking them if they were “ready to die.”
Officers arriving at the scene reportedly found Flaherty still on the sidewalk with an open bottle of liquor. He appeared intoxicated and was arrested without further incident.
If convicted, Flaherty faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each count.
