Becker County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A 24-year-old man from White Earth is facing multiple felony charges following a high-speed pursuit, drug seizure, and use of a police radio scanner during a felony offense.

Camarin George Hanks has been charged in Becker County District Court with:

  • Felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle

  • Felony possession/use of a police radio during a felony

  • Felony fifth-degree drug possession

  • Misdemeanor fourth-degree DWI

According to court documents, the incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on July 1, when a Becker County deputy observed a vehicle fishtailing on 370th Street. The deputy initiated a traffic stop at County Highway 34, where a male passenger exited the vehicle with his hands up. However, the driver — later identified as Hanks — allegedly fled the scene at high speed, reaching over 100 mph.

The deputy gave chase, observing the vehicle driving erratically, including in the oncoming traffic lane. The pursuit ended on County Highway 37, where the deputy executed a PIT maneuver, causing the suspect vehicle to land in a ditch. Hanks and a female passenger fled into nearby woods.

Hanks was later located by a K9 unit and taken into custody. The female passenger was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

During the arrest, officers found approximately 3.2 grams of methamphetamine in Hanks’ front pants pocket. He was transported to a hospital for medical clearance and consented to provide a urine sample, which was sent to the Minnesota BCA for testing. Authorities also reported finding equipment in the vehicle that broadcast police radio transmissions.

On July 8, Hanks posted a $1,000 bond and was released under standard conditions, including a prohibition on drug and alcohol use and a requirement to maintain contact with his attorney.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 28 before Judge Gretchen Thilmony in Becker County District Court.
