Becker County Man Sentenced in THC Vape and Marijuana Case
Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) — A rural Ogema man has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony first-degree cannabis following a traffic stop earlier this year.
According to court records, Wambli Ray Warren, 20, was sentenced after pleading guilty in connection with a February 25, 2025, traffic stop on Becker County Road 21 in Detroit Lakes. Deputies were called after receiving a report of a vehicle swerving across lanes and throwing a liquor bottle from the window. The vehicle was stopped for expired registration, and Warren was identified as the front seat passenger.
During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement located the driver’s checkbook, multiple 30-round magazines with ammunition, and $3,920 in cash. A box of Browning 9 mm ammunition was found in the front passenger door near Warren’s seat. Officers also recovered 149 THC vapes totaling 298 grams and 696 grams (1.53 pounds) of marijuana near a backseat passenger. All three men in the vehicle were charged in the case.
The driver told authorities that he had purchased the marijuana and THC vapes earlier that day at a park in Detroit Lakes. Warren told investigators he arranged the purchase through Snapchat, according to the criminal complaint.
On October 22, District Judge Michael D. Fritz ordered a stay of adjudication on the felony charge, meaning it will be dismissed if Warren completes probation. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail with credit for seven served, fined $510, and placed on supervised probation for five years. Warren must also complete a chemical dependency assessment and refrain from using alcohol or mood-altering substances.
