BECKER COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A Waubun man is facing a felony charge after authorities say he violated a domestic abuse no-contact order in Becker County.
According to Becker County District Court records, Lawrence William Goodman, Jr., 23, of Waubun, is charged with felony violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order. The charge is listed as occurring within 10 years of the first of two or more similar convictions.
The criminal complaint was not available online at the time of this report. However, court records show the alleged offense was reported on October 31. The case was investigated and handled by White Earth Tribal Police.
A domestic abuse no-contact order, often called a DANCO, is a court order that bars contact with a protected person. Violating such an order can lead to a felony charge when there is a pattern of past convictions. More information on Minnesota protection orders is available from the state courts at the Minnesota Judicial Branch website.
On November 3, a judge set bail or bond for Goodman at $25,000 with no conditions. The court also allowed a lower option of a $3,000 bond or $300 cash bail with standard conditions of release. Those standard conditions typically include following all laws and obeying any no-contact terms that remain in place.
Court records indicate Goodman posted $300 cash bail on the same day and was released from custody. There were no additional conditions listed in the public summary beyond the standard terms.
Goodman’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 17 in Becker County District Court. The hearing is set before District Judge Michelle W. Lawson. At that hearing, the court may address future scheduling, possible plea discussions, or other pretrial matters.
As of now, there is no trial date listed in the public record. Additional details may become available if the full complaint is posted or if new filings are added to the case. Early reports often contain limited information and can change as more documents are filed.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are found guilty in a court of law.
