Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) – A 19-year-old man from Lake Park has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of criminal sexual conduct involving a juvenile female.
According to court records, Jacob Kenneth Grove was sentenced for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct stemming from an incident in July 2024.
The case began when a Becker County sheriff’s investigator received a report of a past sexual assault on September 5, 2024. The juvenile victim was interviewed at the Lakes Crisis and Resource Center, where she described the incident.
The girl told investigators she had gone to Grove’s bedroom to talk about an argument with her boyfriend and later fell asleep on his bed. Grove said he would sleep on the couch, but the girl reported waking the next morning to find him rubbing her legs and touching her underneath her clothing.
When confronted, Grove allegedly claimed he was “looking for his phone” before leaving the room. The next day, investigators questioned Grove, who admitted to the assault and stated that he knew it was wrong.
On August 6, 2025, District Judge Michael Fritz issued a stay of adjudication. If Grove completes probation, the charge could later be dismissed.
As part of the sentence, Grove must serve 30 days in jail with work release privileges. He was also fined $400 plus $85 in court fees.
In addition, Grove was placed on five years of supervised probation with strict conditions, including:
-
No alcohol or recreational drug use.
-
No unauthorized contact with the victim.
-
No contact with minors under 18 unless approved by his probation agent or treatment provider.
-
No pornography or sexually explicit material, and no entry into businesses that sell such material.
-
Completion of a psychological-sexual evaluation.
-
Enrollment in and successful completion of an outpatient sex offender treatment program.
-
Compliance with cognitive behavioral therapy as directed.
Authorities say these conditions are designed to ensure accountability while providing rehabilitation opportunities under close supervision.
