Severe Injuries Reported
Records show the younger relative suffered a broken jaw, a broken eye socket, a broken nose, and several missing teeth. He was transported to Fargo for emergency treatment and later required multiple surgeries.
According to court documents, Schlehr had cuts on his right hand. He told investigators he and the younger man had been drinking before the assault. Schlehr said they were sitting in the younger relative’s truck when they began arguing.
Schlehr admitted to punching the younger man. He reportedly told officers that he knew the assault was wrong and understood that he would face consequences.
After the assault, Schlehr brought the victim into the house to clean up. He then had someone drive the injured man to the emergency room, according to the report.
Bail and Release Conditions
On November 11, Schlehr posted a $1,000 bail and was released with several conditions. These include no contact with the victim and no drinking or using nonprescribed drugs.
The case is being handled by the Becker County Attorney’s Office. Schlehr’s next court appearance is set for November 24 before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony.
